Permits are issued subject to the following conditions:
- The permit will be valid from the start date until the expiry date.
- The permit applies to the permit holder, their nominated vehicle and their fellow
travellers within the nominated vehicle.
- The permit is issued on the basis that all persons to which it relates enter native title
land at their own risk and agree that the landowners, occupiers or native title holders
shall not be liable for any loss, damage or liability of any kind arising out of the entry
onto Aboriginal land, no matter how much loss, damage or liability arises and whether
it is by fault, default or negligence.
- The permit only gives permission for travel along the formed track comprising the
Canning Stock Route and to associated wells and campsites (excluding those listed
below) immediately adjacent to the main CSR track.
- Where possible, keep to existing camp sites.
- Only move off the track for legitimate purposes, such as camping and in emergencies.
- Areas listed below are not covered by the CSR permit and access is closed to the
general public.
- Accessing areas of native title land which are not covered by a CSR permit may
constitute trespass.
- The permit does not authorise the entry of a person to a dwelling, community or living area belonging to Aboriginal people without the consent of the owner, occupier or community.
- The permit does not authorise any other activity apart from tourism.
- All other activities or requests for access to the surrounding lands, apart from access
roads (see below), should be made to the relevant Prescribed Body Corporate listed
above. It should be noted that, generally, requests for public access are not granted
and that other state government approvals (e.g. from the Department of Indigenous
Affairs) may be required for activities other than tourism.
- The permit holder and other persons travelling with them will at all times:
- Carry this permit in the vehicle and show the permit to traditional owners and ranger groups upon request
- Comply with any reasonable request or directions by the traditional owners or ranger groups while on native title land including, any directions relating to access to, safe-keeping and preservation of Aboriginal sites and objects
- Comply with any directional or other signs installed by the prescribed bodies corporate
- Comply with directions in caring for the CSR outlined in the Information Booklet
supplied with the permit.
- The permit holder and other persons travelling with them are aware that persons who excavate, destroy, damages, conceals or in any way alter an Aboriginal site commit an offence under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972, which attracts criminal and civil penalties.
